Landed Property vs. High Rise Property

2:53 PM

I've been itching to write about this topic, which is to compare both our landed and high rise properties we are staying simultaneously at the same time.

So you'll find me sometimes here, sometimes there-lah

Anyway, please be advised that both these properties are gated & guarded, have maintenance fees, of nice views, and not facing sunset (house will be warmer at night)

Landed Property's Advantages

1. Car Porch

Car porch makes loading/unloading extremely easy, sometimes I don't mind carrying items more than I needed to a trip/outstation, like a baby cot, since it costs me no extra time to straightaway load it from the house.

On the other hand, a trip to hometown/kampung means a lot of trip to carry baggage down the lift, or, simply, a large size trolley is NEEDED to carry all the stuffs needed. This alone enough to make you sweat, no kidding

Plus, you can wash your own car at your car porch, which can never be done when you own a high rise..

2. Under Stairs Storage / Stor Bawah Tangga

This is definitely heaven sent, since we stored away seasonal clothes, partyware, tool box, comforters (6 comforters LOL), anddd the unsightly vacuum cleaner hehe. Else, where else to put all these stuff? Since we keep all rooms very clean, we cannot imagine having to, probably, hid the vacuum cleaner under the guest bed? We use divan bed anyway, impossible..

Our under stairs storage (right door) has many "treasures" hehehe

With high rise, since ours is definitely single floor type means, no staircase. Thus, the smallest room is always sacrificed to be the store room for the above stuffs >.<

3. Party Venue / Kenduri

We intentionally choose to buy a house facing playground/garden (which costs a little higher than house-facing-house), because we foresee the future having to host a party/kenduri which makes building up tent and all seems easier and fuss-free.

With high rise property, you'll probably need a club house/event space to organize your party, which require more plan with logistics (having to transport stuffs here and there)

4. Other disadvantages of High Rise

Other disadvantages of high rise including post box so further away from your house (sometimes you forget to pick up your letters), higher maintenance fees, smaller space (comparing to our landed properties, which definitely has larger bathroom, bedroom size and hall size), etc

All these small points contributed to my love towards landed properties, obviously..

High Rise Property's Advantages

1. Single Floor Space

Single floor space makes bringing in furniture is easy, whereas for double storey house, I'll definitely asked for my husband's help to get the furniture upstairs, hehe. Sometimes, our decision of what furniture going where : includes the furniture's weight.. HAHA

And our landed property has only 1 room donwstairs, and 3 rooms upstairs. The room downstairs (not small, have own bathroom access too), is definitely a dedicated room for my parents/in laws because they don't need to climb up and (potentially) hurt their knees.

But, during my confinement (pantang), I use the room downstairs, and mom volunteered to stay upstairs. Thank you, mom, for the sacrifice! If it were a high rise property where all rooms are on the same, single floor, then no one would sacrifice.

2. 3-Layer Security, or more

The many layer-security of high rise probably appealing to many young people that needed it. Taking an example of my friend who is a pilot and constantly leaving her wife and their kids behind, NEED that security to make sure his wife stay safe.

I believe, yeah, you can break into a landed house a little bit easily, than a high rise. But I don't have the statistics to support this point..

It appears that both type of properties offer different values, but to me personally, I love my landed property more, just because I hate frequent trips downstairs to the car park to bring my stuffs when I am staying at a high rise properties.. because the frequency (of doing so) is high!

Anyone can relate?
