HOSPITAL BAG CHECKLIST : Baby Seff
9:19 PM
I am still in my third trimester and not yet entering labour phase, but is required to prepare early because of the threatened preterm labour, so, we did some laundry for the baby textiles and here are the basic preparation for the in-case-of-preterm-labour :
Since this isnt my first time @ my first baby, the preparations and packing will be different from last year (where I put everything into a large luggage (baby and mommy items in the same bag and its so hard going through things needed there. Plus, luggage isn't practical for mommy, more like a daddy duty. So mommy shall carry Baby Bag only)
P.s. and mommy items isnt so pretty, because they are mostly unattractive kain batiks, maternity pads and breast pads LOL
HOSPITAL BAG CHECKLIST (BABY) :
i. The labour pack (to be handed over to nurse pre-labour)
Usually tiniest bag possible, consists of:
- 1 pc of head-to-toe outfit (snap shirt + long pant + mitten + booties + bonnet)
- 2 pcs of disposable diapers (got mine from Bambo Nature MY pack of 2)
- 1 pc of muslin swaddle (mine using Aden & Anais Bamboo Muslin Swaddle)
ii. 2-3 outfits @ change @ bodysuit
iii. 2-3 pcs of muslin swaddles
iv. 1 pack of disposable diapers (28pcs)
v. Wet wipes
vi. Grooming kit
vii. Baby basic skincare
viii. 1 pc of going home outfit (probably a cute sleepsuit)
ix. (Optional) washclothes, baby bib
P.s. other thing not necessarily packed into a bag, but for baby use:
- infant car seat / stroller
So, to visualize correctly which is which, here is what I did :
The Baby Bag ( the labour pack is the clear, pink, zippered bag).
Items inside of the Baby Bag
I use snap shirt / kimono-like top for the baby (earlier days use) as per advised by my mom, since baby E will still got his umbilical cord not yet falling off, so it will not hurt the baby, or actually to ease mommy in handling, idk. Just follow my mom's advice here.. hehe
P.s. Snap shirt from Mothercare
HOSPITAL BAG CHECKLIST (MOMMY) :
Normal luggage vs baby bag. Just how tiny a newborn is!
Hope this helps!
P.s. Actually, if you went into early labour, and baby was scheduled to stay in NICU (in an incubator).. what you REALLY NEED is only :
i. Diapers
(premature one available too, else, can cut/fold the usual newborn diapers)
ii. Wet wipes
iii. Baby bonnet (optional)
.. since premature babies like Elana dont wear clothes inside an incubator. zz
But lets hope everything went fine and Im not going into early labour..

i. ID, hospital appointment card/book/documents
ii. 2 pcs of Kain Batiks
iii. 1 pack of Maternity Pads & disposable panties
iv. Nursing bras and breast pads
v. 2-3 button down shirt / kimono top / robe of your choice
vi. Sweater and socks
vii. Slippers / flip flops
viii. Towels, travel sized toilettries & makeup
ix. Thermos/ Vacuum Flask, MILO & Snacks (nuts, dried fruits @ crackers)
x. Breast pump**
xi. Smart phone, DSLR and chargers
xii. (Optional) Herbal oil of your choice (post natal rub, usually applied on feet before socks)
Mommy bag (its heavy!)
** Last year when Elana was admitted to the NICU, the first thing the nurse asked is for me to pump my breastmilk (colostrum at that time) to be sent to the NICU. I was prepared that time. But if you're all fine, I dont think theres a need for a pumping session (usually direct feeding)
Since the mommy items are so many, larger luggage is needed and therefore, daddy will help with it.
