We’ve been to Singapore a few times before, but this trip was extra special—it was Seff’s first time! Our little one has been talking non-stop about Universal Studios Singapore ever since he watched Diana & Roma’s trip, and we finally made it happen. With work always keeping us on our toes, we decided it was the perfect moment to slow down and enjoy a short family holiday.

Quick bites before exploring the city

Jewel SG

We arrived at Changi Airport from KLIA and kicked things off with a visit to Jewel SG. The Rain Vortex still a must visited no matter how many times we’ve seen it. Been here not too long and we moved on fast onto the next plan. We tried to use the MRT to get around, stopping at Haji Lane but we eventually gave up and called a Grab. (No regrets!) We packed super light though.

Colorful Corners & City Vibes (Arab St/Haji Ln)

Before checking in, we made a short detour to Arab Street and Haji Lane—loved the vibrant walls and cozy alleys. Perfect spot for a few family photos. 

We then checked into our hotel, Travelodge Harbourfront, turned out to be in a fantastic location—right next to Vivocity and just minutes away from USS!

Vivocity & Merlion Park

Dinner was simple and easy at Vivocity (convenience really is everything with a kid in tow), then we took a Grab to Merlion Park for a relaxing evening walk and some city skyline shots. It was a calm and beautiful way to wind down after a day of travel.

Okay, full honesty—I'm writing this in April 2025 (hello, latepost), even though I started building this wishlist back in December 2024 / January 2025. Life has been life-ing, and while I may have already bought a thing or two (oops), I still wanted to document this list because it feels like a tiny snapshot of who I was at the start of the year.

1. Hover X1 or DJI Neo 

Capturing memories is my thing, especially when I travel—and these two smart flying cameras had me at hello. Whether it’s the compact Hover X1 (which I came across from travel blogger last year, first) or the feature-packed DJI Neo, I just love the idea of letting a drone follow me around while I explore, no tripod or awkward angles needed. It’s giving main character energy, and I’m here for it.

2. Marc Jacobs Tote Bag 

After years of wearing only WOCs, I realized I wanted something with a bit more structure—but still lightweight enough to carry everywhere. The Marc Jacobs Tote kept popping up in my mental cart, and knowing it could easily carry my Hover or Neo someday? That pretty much sealed the deal. It’s the bag equivalent of an all-rounder: screams both formal & casual (suitable for work/I am a mechanical engineer), and endlessly useful.

3. Louis Vuitton Cosmetic Pouch 

This one’s been a long time coming. I may or may not have purchased a custom encasement for this pouch before actually owning it (classic SLG-lover behavior, right?). It’s compact, structured, and effortlessly elevates the small things I carry.

4. Apple Watch 

Ever since getting my iPhone, I’ve been lowkey eyeing the Apple Watch. It’s sleek, it tracks everything, and let’s be honest—the camera shutter feature alone makes it a must. No more awkward timer runs for travel photos. Just prop, pose, and click from your wrist. Genius.

5. Elie Saab Parfum 

This fragrance will always have a piece of my heart. I wore Elie Saab on my wedding day, and every time I smell it, I’m instantly transported. It’s elegant, feminine, and nostalgic in the best way. Some perfumes come and go, but this one? Feels like a first love I’ll always return to.

Some things on this list I’ve already picked up (guilty), others I’m still working toward—but they all reflect where I’m at right now: someone who values beauty, function, and a bit of sentimentality (I'm a hopeless romantic!). This list is more than just a wishlist—it’s a little love letter to myself.

I recently decided to have breakfast at Chef Kecik’s café, Chef Kecik Tuah, located at Tuah 1895. The parking situation was surprisingly easy, and I was in and seated within no time. To my convenience, I could place my order via a QR code, and after paying at the counter, I waited for my food to arrive.

I ordered my go-to breakfast dish, Egg Benedict—which, if you're a regular reader of my blog, you know is my absolute favorite! However, this time, Chef Kecik’s take on this classic left me disappointed.

Instead of the usual English muffin, they served the Egg Benedict on a buttery, flaky croissant (a signature twist at Chef Kecik's café). And while I absolutely love their croissants and some of their baked goods (especially their cheesetarts), this dish just didn’t hit the mark.

I’ve always been a fan of Chef Kecik’s creations, but I’ve never been fond of his chocolate set—specifically the dipping chocolate that comes with the croissant. It tastes like a cheap chocolate drink mix, almost like the 3-in-1 Cadbury chocolate drink you’d get in a packet. 

But the Egg Benedict on croissant? That was a whole other level of disappointment.

The hollandaise sauce tasted off, and the egg itself… Well, it didn’t taste like egg at all. It had this bitter, almost alkaline flavor that made me question what I was eating. For the first time ever, I couldn’t finish a plate of my beloved Egg Benedict. Halfway through, I was ready to puke, and I had to stop myself before I embarrassed myself in public.

I really hope Chef Kecik reconsiders the recipe or perhaps even switches up the chef for this dish. While I didn’t try any other dishes on the menu, I’m pretty confident Egg Benedict isn’t his specialty—at least not anymore.

I was also curious about Chef Kecik's Kunafa Chocolate, which I saw was priced on the higher end. Although I didn’t buy it, I saw a post later where Chef Kecik mentioned that many customers had complained the kunafa was too thin to taste properly. Based on this feedback, they've since improved it by making the kunafa thicker. I’m glad I didn’t buy it earlier! Maybe I’ll give it a shot next time, but no promises.
