Messy Play Activity for a Toddler : Edible/Taste-Safe Paint & Cloud Dough
11:44 AM
Everyone wants me to frame this.. hehehe
My recent interest is to google messy play ideas for a toddler, that I saved up for the weekend to spend with Seff. He is doing well in motor skill, sketching and all, but probably has some delay in communication.
I took an advice during a visit to Seff's favourite indoor playground, Carrot Patch Playhouse in IOI Putrajaya, messy play could be beneficial to Seff to improve his speech, so here we are, I wanted to document the ideas for (always) for my future references :
TASTE-SAFE PAINT
The easiest of them all, the paint is mainly made using flour. Recipe below :
1. 1/4 cup salt
2. 1/2 cup flour
3. 1/2 cup water
4. Food coloring
And that's it, with very much less than MYR10, you'll have a taste-safe paint. They said you should leave your child play with this however he/she likes, although you may initiate how you want him/her to do with it at first (because true as they said, kids imitate everything!)
Set of 3 brushes are from ECO store, RM 2.10 hehehe
He started painting his body too (especially his feet)
CLOUD DOUGH
Also in the range of low cost messy play, the main ingredients for this dough is also : flour. Recipe below :
1. 1/4 cup vegetable oil
2. 2 cups flour
3. Powdered food coloring
The regular water soluble food coloring won't work on dough, so please bear in mind to use powdered, oil-soluble or just skipped them like I did. But to have it colored like, chocolate colored one to mimic the soil/earth and probably have kids play with excavator/front loader, that would be more fun
Set of 3 items above also from ECO store, RM 2.10 heheheh
We have some more items added : sand castle molds and whatever comes with it
The cloud dough feel and behaves like a soil/sand would, so you can do whatever you can with it!
Now I am dreaming of doing more things! Because they are super safe, fun and cheap to be done!
More to come, until next post!
