Seff's 1st Birthday : the Preparation

The Venue
We decided to have the party in an indoor playground, near to my parents house. It will be a small party for close family and friends. The budget? RM1000 cheaper from the budget allocated hehehehe *win*
The Theme

At first I wanted anything that has to do with Shrek, because it has been Seff's favourite. But finding anything Shrek is a little bit tough. No shrek foil balloons and other things/goodies/stationaries that matches the Shrek theme
So we decided to have a despicable me/minion party (also among Seff's favourite movie -the top 3 would be : Shrek, Up & Despicable Me) with the theme :
"ONE in a minion"
Note : This would be a perfect theme since Seff is a low birth weight baby, but has excellent progress in terms of weight and health. So far he never even had a cough/flu! 2,3 episodes of mild fever and that is all. Nothing that required hospitalization/emergency medical attention *thumbs up*
The Birthday Cake
Searching for the minion cake is quite easy, found a baker online that has done her thing very beautifully, but let's see the results & review next week 😉
The Main Table Desserts
My mom and my aunt are also excellent bakers, so my mom asked if she could add anything to the main table. But I honestly do not want to burden anyone, so I suggested to fill the table with simple things kids love (kids = my nieces), and will eat. I don't see the function to have an aesthetically pleasing cupcakes/cake pops/sugar cookies but my nieces won't eat them? (although hands extremely itch to order personalized lollipop hehe)
Also, I won't try so hard to make every food minion-looking, I only wanted food that is colour-coordinated (yellow colour) and that is all. So for desserts/snacks I'll be adding :
1. Doughnuts
2. Honey Stars
3. Caramel popcorn
The Buffet

The buffet is done by the event/indoor playground's cafe with the following menu

3. Butter & Oats Deep Fried Fillet
4. Curry Chicken & Potato
5. Chicken Popcorn

7. Vegetables
8. Fried sausage with Butter Sauce

11. Drinks : Ribena

The Favors
Since it will be a minion theme, the favors will be of banana (and everything yellow!). The contents inside the goodies bag (goodies bag now different since we added a thank you note, stay tuned!) :
1. Minion stationery
2. Banana flavored milk (Korean)
3. Instant oatmeal, banana & honey from Quaker
Note : will also add real banana into the bags on the event day
The Decor
DIY by yours truly, hehehe but this one got me soooooooo nervous! >.<
